FLR drive-on ventilated floors provide a flexible, reliable and efficient crop/woodchip drying and storage system, which can easily handle the throughput of modern machinery.
FLR floors are designed to a high specification using top-grade hardwood and softwood boards, manufactured in short lengths for ease of maintenance.
Our hardwood top boards are manufactured from selected Keruing timber, which we purchase kiln-dried prior to machining in order to minimize shrinkage. This treatment significantly reduces the risk of a ventilation mesh becoming detached during service.
The material used in our optional softwood top boards and in all our bearers is slow-growing, hard wearing Baltic, Russian or Scandinavian timber, which offers excellent wear characteristics.
Floors are designed to withstand up to the 10-ton pneumatic tyre axle loads regularly experienced with modern agricultural machinery. What’s more, they are built to a modular design on-site to enable adjustment to variations in the concrete floor levels. For woodchip operations where high turn round rates are required (typically every 48 hours) we recommend the use of hardwood top boards screwed in place to facilitate ease of replacement.
The design of our flooring allows for even air distribution ideal for difficult-to-dry crops. A galvanised mesh sits in a groove below the board surface, minimising the risk of crop damage. With under-floor partitioning and plywood sealing strips there is no ‘wasted’ air; you only blow where it is needed.
